Pumpkin Spice Trifle

For the dessert at my fall dinner party I wanted to make a very easy, yet very impressive and delicious trifle. So what better dessert than a pumpkin spice trifle? I was really excited when I picked up a trifle bowl for $7 at the store.   It made the dish look beautiful, and no one could stop eating it.

Pumpkin Spice Trifle

Ingredients:

1 box of spice cake mix and ingredients on the box
1 5 ounce package of vanilla or butterscotch cook and serve pudding and the ingredients on the box
1 15 ounce can pumpkin pie mix (if you can only find pureed pumpkin, add 3/4 cup brown sugar and pumpkin pie spices)
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon powder
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 12 ounce carton whipped cream, or prepare it fresh yourself
6 ginger cookies  or 2 heath bars smashed up

Method:
Step 1: Cook cake mix per instructions on the box and let cool, cut into squares
Step 2: Cook pudding and let cool
Step 3: Mix cooled pudding and pumpkin pie mix together, then add in spices
Step 4: Layer trifle bowl with half of the cake, top with half of the pudding mix, then half the whipped cream and repeat once more with the top layer being whipped cream
Step 5: Top trifle with crushed ginger cookies or heath bars
Step 6: Refrigerate for a few hours, and serve
